Types of Bidding?

If you’re looking for an entertaining night out, or if you’re the kind of person who likes to be right in the middle of the action, then floor bidding is for you. You can come to the preview and register or register the day of the auction.

You may submit an absentee bid by calling, stopping by or email.  Please be aware if you have not received communication from our staff, your absentee bid has not been received and accepted.  It is your responsibility to make sure that you have received verification of your absentee bidding before the time of the auction

We do accept phone bids on a first come first serve basis.  Telephone bidders are also urged to provide a maximum backup bid if the bidder is unreachable at the time the item comes up for sale.  Road Toad Auction Service will make every effort to exercise your phone bid in good conscience but we are not liable for any errors or omissions and are not responsible for the item in which you are bidding.  It is your responsibility to view and assess the item before the phone call is made and before bidding.  If you are the winning bidder, payment is due immediately via the website and you will need to contact us at a later time to arrange to pick up.

In-house Internet bidding  offers you the ability to bid live remotely from the comfort of your own home or, for that matter, from anywhere in the world. Bids are received in real time so that you are competing for lots as if you were in the room yourself. For this convenience, your purchases will include a slightly higher buyer’s premium of 18% (as opposed to 15%) to help offset the cost of running the Internet system. Currently this system will only be used for online auctions.  Coming in the future we will be adding simulcast using this feature where you can bid mobility at live auctions against bidders on the floor. Our online auctions also use a dynamic-ending Internet bidding feature that is very similar to the eBay-style auction. Like eBay, the auction has a start time and an end time, and bidders are able to sign in and leave bids on items of interest at any time during the auction. Where we differ is when a bid is placed just before the auction is scheduled to close. To ensure all other active bidders have a chance to counterbid the last-minute bid, the ending time of the auction will automatically be extended by a predetermined number of minutes. This will continue to occur until that number of minutes has passed without further bidding. At that time, the auction will officially close.

The Auction record kept by Road Toad Auction Gallery will be final. The highest bidder for each lot shall be the buyer, and if any dispute arises as to the bidding, or between two or more bidders, the auctioneer will have sole discretion to determine the successful bidder, or the disputed lot shall be offered again at the last undisputed bid and resold. Buyers are responsible for all items after the knockdown.
